Duffel, May 2015 – Reynaers Aluminium contributes to the Expo Milano 2015, hosted in Milan (Italy) from the 1st of May till the 31st of October 2015.  With Reynaers’ technical know-how and expertise the company became a valuable partner for the development of “The China Corporate United Pavilion”.

Sustainability

With the central theme ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’ Expo Milano 2015 talks about the problems of nutrition and the resources of our planet. The aim is to open up a dialogue between international players with a sustainable future for our society in mind. This theme of Expo Milano 2015 fits with the philosophy of Reynaers Aluminium. Driven by energy-efficiency and the willingness to take responsibility for the environment, Reynaers Aluminium offers sustainable aluminium solutions for the building envelope.

Contribution to the Expo

Reynaers contributed to one of the three Chinese pavilions at the Expo “The China Corporate United Pavilion” by implementing the dedicated Curtain Wall sytem CW 50-VL. By using the symbolism of the seed, the “China Corporate United Pavilion” interprets the dream of a group of Chinese companies that attempts to live the values of conservation of natural resources and food security.

Design

The Pavilion, designed by Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tongji University Ltd (Group), is an example of great architecture that mixes tradition and modernity.

The design of the pavilion is refering to the life that comes from the green heart, transforms into the spiral of a DNA chain tracing an upward path, and merges into an elliptical form.  The spiral ramp gently accompanies visitors towards the open spaces of the Italian-Chinese garden and the terrace. Its simple rectangular shape from the outside covers the harmonious inner curves that represent the vitality of Chinese enterprises. This aesthetically lightweight and breathable shape is realised thanks to Reynaers’ white curtain wall that supports the spectacular roof of this pavilion.
